Russia warns of engaging U.S. led forces in Syria

The facts:

The Russian defense ministry has issued an official warning to U.S. led coalition forces in Syria. The warning, issued this morning states, “Any aircraft, including planes and drones belonging to the international coalition operating west of the River Euphrates, will be tracked by Russian anti-aircraft forces in the sky and on the ground and treated as targets.” The warning comes in response to an American F/A 18 shooting down a Syrian warplane south of the town of Tabqah on Sunday 6/18. The Syrian aircraft was used against coalition forces and was subsequently downed as a result, marking the first time the U.S. has engaged Assad’s forces directly since the start of the civil war in 2011. Russia has also severed communications with the White House over the incident.

The opinion:

Remember when there was a claim that the only way to avoid war with Russia was to vote for Trump? I remember, and knew that was a false prediction. The warhawks have been circling in Syria for sometime now and escalation was a forgone conclusion. When will we learn that intervention into other nations matters only worsen matters globally? Why is there a sudden drive by both parties to reignite the cold war? Only this time with less “cold” and more “war”.

The situation in Syria is an easy solution, come home and let them deal with it themselves. In regards to ISIS, it’s much more efficient and effective to keep stray dogs out of your neighborhood by staying in your neighborhood, not cleaning up the neighborhoods around you. That’s the business of the people that reside in their respective neighborhoods.
